2019 New Catalog Card Swap – Mosaic Healing Thoughts

Hi there! Today, I am sharing a card I made for a 2019 New Catalog Card Swap. I really enjoy participating in swaps. It is a great way to get tons of inspiration while also sharing your ideas. Card swaps can be a little intimidating at first; my advice is start small and trust in your creations! Everyone has something to add to the wonderful world of card making!!!

My card uses the new Mosaic Moods DSP (2019 Annual Catalog) and is paired with carry over dies and stamps: Stained Glass Thinlits (2018 Annual Catalog) and Well Said stamp set (2019 Occasions Catalog). I chose to use Early Espresso cardstock but this card would look great with any of this DSP’s coordinating colors such as Soft Suede, Mint Macaron, Crushed Curry or even one of the new In Colors – Terracotta Tile. I chose to keep the DSP as the focal and point and keep my embellishments to a minimum, using only a coordinating Flower Faceted Gem. I feel like this card looks good even without any embellishments. You will find detailed instructions and a supply list below. I have also included a link to a printable card recipe but remember this is what I had on hand. There are many options for this card and I am definitely a proponent of use what you have 🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!!! Until next time Peace, Love and Happy Stamping!

2018 Feathers + Frost Holiday Cards – 3 ways

Hi there! In my last post, I focused on using the Stampin’ Up! 2018 Feathers and Frost stamp set to create a #simplestamping card. This post will show how to add a few more supplies and create two additional cards. I have had so much fun working on my new design challenge. I start simple and build on each design to create cards that can be created and enjoyed by a wide range of crafters. I absolutely love this idea. I remember when I first started crafting seriously (i.e. beginning to build my craft stash). I didn’t have tons of different colored card stock or stamp sets or even tools. I only used black memento ink 🙂 My hope is that beginner crafters or other crafters in need of a quick and simple card can use my #simplestamping cards for inspiration. The next level up, #casualcrafter, takes the first card and adds some more colors, layers, and tools. The final level, #avidcrafter, introduces a technique or two. Depending on your time and craft supply, I hope the second and third cards offer even more inspiration! So let’s take a look at Feathers + Frost in 3 ways.

Card 1 – #simplestamping

See my last post for card details.

Feathers + Frost Card 1 – #simplestamping

Card 2 – #casualcrafter

In the next card, I have added more colors and used another sentiment. The card base is done in Stampin’ Up! Pool Party card stock. I have stamped the leaves and berries in Pool Party ink and colored the berries in Stampin’ Blends Light Real Red. I cut this into a square and layered it on Real Red card stock. Next I stamped the “Joy” and “to the world” sentiments in Real Red ink. I punched out “Joy” with a circle punch and Real Red with a scallop circle punch. I trimmed “to the world” sentiment into a strip and used the Triple Banner punch on each side. I used some leftover Real Red strips and used the Triple Banner punch on each end. (Useful Tip: Using the Triple Banner punch is optional. These cuts can be made with snips, by making a cut in the middle and then cutting from the end to the middle.) Final touch is adding some Clear Rhinestones colored with the Light Real Red Stampin’ Blends. And don’t forget the inside :), inside is stamped in Real Red with “and Peace to your heart” and poinsettia.

Feathers + Frost Card 2 – #casualcrafter

Card 3 – #avidcrafter

The 3rd card, which is my favorite :),  add the use of an embossing folder, a little touch of silver foil, and the fussy cutting technique. This card uses a Whisper White card base with layers of Real Red and Pool Party. The stamping is the same as in card #2 with an addition. Stamp the right facing bird in Read Red ink. Color in the berries with Light Real Red Stampin’ Blends. Color in the bird with Light Real Red and Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blends. Apply additional coats of blends to create shading. If you have the Stampin’ Blends combo packs, you can add shading with the matching dark color. Create the sentiment layers the same as in card #2, except punch the scallop circle out of a Silver Foil sheet. Once the bird is colored, fussy cut, removing his legs. (Useful Tip: a white gel pen can cover any remaining pieces.) Emboss the Pool Party layer with the Tin Tile Dynamic Embossing Folder. Build your layers: both sentiments and bird are popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals, the remaining layers are attached with SNAIL. Inside is stamped in Real Red with “and Peace to your heart” and poinsettia. (Useful tip: you can add an “s” to the end with the Make a Difference stamp set.)

Feathers + Frost Card 3 – #avidcrafter

2018 Feathers and Frost Simple Holiday Card

Hi, there! I hope everyone is enjoying the Holiday Season! I am getting back into card making after some time away focusing on family. Attended the Stampin’ Up! 30th Birthday Celebration at OnStage! Live in Orlando this past November. It was amazing!! Nothing like a Stampin’ Up! OnStage! event to get your mojo back. We learned to begin designing our cards with all crafter levels in mind – the beginner crafter, the casual crafter, and the avid crafter. I absolutely love this paradigm shift!!! Most of my designs were created at my level – avid crafter. So suffice it to say, it has been quite the challenge. But I always love a good challenge 🙂 I have been trying to start with a simple beginner design and then add to it to create casual and avid crafter versions.

So this is a simple holiday card, using one of my favorite sets, Feathers and Frost, from the 2018 Holiday Catalog and Stampin’ Blends. It requires minimal supplies: one stamp set, one ink color, and blender pens to add color and pop.  I also used some Wink of Stella and rhinestones but these are completely optional. The card recipe and supplies used can be found at the end of this post. Look forward to sharing my journey through this design challenge! Would love to hear your feedback – especially on whether you feel the card design fits with your crafting level!!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Please come back again soon!! Until then Peace, Love and Season’s Greetings!!!

2018 Rainbow Balloons Birthday

Hi, there! I hope everyone is finally getting a tatse of Spring. Here in Greensboro, Dogwoods and Azaleas are in full bloom. So, I wanted to add a touch a spring to this card 🙂 Today’s post features new products from the 2018-2019 Stampin’ Up! Catalog. These items will be available to order on June 1st. But wait, or should I say, for those that can’t wait ;)… the new 2018 In Color Collection will be available as part of a Customer Early Release promotion: Share What You Love Suite beginning May 1 – May 31, 2018.

I am so excited about the new In Colors!! I couldn’t wait to get my hands on them and make vibrant, rainbow colored cards 🙂 So let me introduce the Stampin’ Up! 2018 In Colors:

I hope you love them as much as I do!! Today’s card focuses on these bright colors. It also features my favorite Host Set, Hand Delivered, which you can earn by hosting an online workshop or placing an order using my monthly Hostess Code.

To create the rainbow feel without an actual rainbow, I decided to do rainbow stripes with a flow:) In comes, the new LilyPad stamp set that includes a waterlines stamp and Viola… rainbow stripes with a flow.

Stampin’ Up!’s new stamp positioning tool, the Stamparatus, is a Game Changer!!!! Love, Love, Love it! It takes the other stamp positioning tools up a notch or two. Rather than go into all the details, I will do a separate post on it, but here’s a link to a video to see for yourself 😉

Ok, back to today’s card 🙂 I used the Stamparatus to easily create the rainbow stripes with a flow. I also used it to help line up the 4 separate stamps that create the balloon image. Once I stamped the image, I used a watercolor brush and the In Color ink pads to color the image. I used very little water to create a brighter look. This can also be done with Aqua Painters. I have incuded a link below to detailed instructions including a supply list. I definitely see more bright cheery cards in my future!!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Please come back again soon!! Until then Peace, Love and Rainbows!!!
